What a Weekend

With only 6 more class meetings to go until summer break–this instructor is chomping at the BIT for it to get here! The bizarre weather of the weekend hardly promises warm days around the corner, but still I hope and wait.

This weekend seemed particularly long; maybe because I was in MN last weekend and it was jam packed with things to do and people to see. None the less I still fully enjoyed what felt like a longer weekend than normal. Friday my husband and I went out to dinner and then had a few drinks at a local wine shop. Saturday we worked in the yard, lounged around, and then met up with some friends for dinner and drinks. Sunday we attended a couple’s baby shower and then had to do some weekend chores such as house cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, and the like.

But, what was unique about this weekend is the amount of painting I completed. I completed a total of 3 paintings throughout the past 3 days. My artistic juices were flowing! Often times painting is a therapeutic outlet for me. My husband has video games, and I have painting, meditation, and blogging. Based off a few things that occurred this weekend, I can see why I needed extra “art therapy” these past few days. As one married person to another married person knows, marriage is tough! When people warn you about, they are not kidding. Even after having been with my husband for 7 years before we wed the aspect of marriage can still be challenging. Not to say that it isn’t worthwhile and amazing as well, but it certainly has its moments. And although those “moments” aren’t always particularly enjoyable, they at least fuel some creativity for me when they occur!

Fabulous Friday

Today has been a wonderful day! I had a great night’s rest last night to start. I slowly woke, made breakfast, picked up the house, and then got ready for the day. At 10:00am I met up with my girl Kaycie. We walked around downtown where she shared with me an awesome goal she has in mind for the near future! I am very excited for her, and I know that she can make any of her dreams happen! Afterwards, we walked to Joe Sippers and continued to chit chat. Both of us have some goals we would like to achieve, and we are doing our best to try and assist each other the best we can to help one another get there. During our talk Kaycie took out her tarot cards to do a quick reading about where her and I need to be focusing our energy and what our next steps should be.

The card on the far right guided us to remove any and all negative energies, bad habits, or self-doubt that may be pinning us down from achieve our dreams/goals. The middle card reminded us to accept and also give back as we need to, and to one another. The last card shared with us two different things due to the way it was facing. For me it guided me to enjoy the fruition of my efforts, and to also now think through how to best “arrange” the fruits of my labor. For Kaycie it reminded her to celebrate herself and her achievements! Overall, it was a very insightful and helpful reading.

After meeting with Kaycie I headed home and had lunch with the hubs. We ate lunch outside on this beautiful day. We enjoyed our meal while also enjoying the beautiful weather and watching our pup run around the backyard.

After lunch I decided to paint for a bit. For my friend’s baby show this weekend I completed a whimsical watercolor painting to go with her nursery theme of elephants and stars.

Then I went back to working on an oil painting I’ve been playing with for awhile now. I think I’ve finally gotten it where I want it. It is definitely a bizarre and abstract piece, but for whatever reason, I’m really digging this painting!

Once my love gets home from work we will be heading out for a little date night together. Our plans are to go to a sushi restaurant and then somewhere for drinks afterwards! I am really looking forward to it 🙂

So as titled, it’s been a fabulous Friday!

One Fine Day

Today was definitely one of the highlights of break! Started off by cleaning up the house and organizing my office.

Then, I took a donation to Goodwill and left with a few of my own new treasures.

Afterwards, I met up with my friend Jamie and got some quality paint time in.

(Going in tomorrow to finish it up!)

Then, during a painting break, I met up with a gorgeous gal to do a boudoir session.

For dinner, the hubs and I went to our favorite Mexican restaurant. It seemed like everything was extra delicious there tonight. Of course we enjoyed the customary chips and salsa, but we also ordered the “crack” cheese. For my dinner entree I ordered the pollo encremado (my favorite) always always good!

Then at 7 I went to a mediation session at my gym. Had an awesomely unique experience with that. Definitely something I will continue with. My final part of the evening has been spent hanging out with my pooch and editing pictures from today. So, it was really a SOLID FRIGGEN DAY! 😀
